Verdict

Support

Verdict is a daily opinion-polling app. Every account is email-verified, most are phone-verified as well, and each account gets exactly one vote per poll. This page covers the questions that come up most; if yours isn't here, email us and a human will answer.

I didn't get my sign-in code

Codes arrive by email and expire after 10 minutes. Check your spam folder first. If nothing arrives, wait a minute and use Resend code — repeated requests in quick succession are rate-limited, which can delay delivery further. Codes are single-use: if you request a second one, only the newest will work.

Why do you need my phone number?

Email-based registration requires a phone number for duplicate-account checks even when its code is delivered by email. Where offered, Sign in with Apple does not require a phone number. Phone verification helps detect duplicate accounts using a hash of the number. When SMS delivery is enabled and used, the readable number is sent to the SMS provider; the account record keeps the hash rather than a readable phone field. Service-provider and operational records are covered in the Privacy Policy. If the code is delivered by email instead of SMS, the account is recorded as email-verified rather than phone-verified.

Can I change my vote?

No. Votes are permanent by design — a poll whose results can be edited after the fact isn't worth reading. You'll see a confirmation step before your vote is recorded.

Why can't I see the results?

Results stay hidden until you've voted on that poll, so that seeing the crowd can't change your answer. Once you vote, you get the full breakdown. Demographic breakdowns need at least 50 respondents in a group before they are shown.

How do you make money? Do you sell my data?

The app is free with no ads. We license aggregate polling statistics to businesses and researchers — figures like "62% of 25–34 year olds said Yes (n=430)". We do not license or sell individual records, identity details, contact details or individual votes to statistical customers. This does not mean that no individual data is disclosed: service providers process data to operate Verdict, information is shared through the social features you use, and records may be disclosed for safety or legal obligations. Any group of fewer than 50 respondents is withheld entirely.

You can exclude yourself completely: in the app, go to Profile → Legal → Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information. The opt-out applies retroactively to past votes in newly computed reports. Previously issued closed-poll reports remain until a permitted re-issue: the respondent count must change by at least 50. Your votes still count in the results you see in the app.

What does the ⊛ verified badge mean?

It means that account passed a government-ID and liveness check through our identity provider. A state you type into your own profile is labelled self-reported and never earns the badge.

Deleting your account

In the app: Profile → Legal → Delete my account. This removes the hashes of your email and phone, your sign-in links, your sessions, push registrations, demographics, friendships and ordinary messages (except restricted case evidence described in the Privacy Policy), and any document-verified date of birth, state and country. Past votes are kept linked to a retained account identifier so that historical poll results stay accurate. Deletion does not make all retained records anonymous. If you verified an ID, one-way hashes of the document and of the person on it are kept to detect repeat verification when document or person details match. Consent records and security history are kept too; the Privacy Policy lists everything that outlives a deleted account.

No longer have the app? Email Adam@varrstacktech.com from the address you registered with and ask for deletion. We will confirm by replying to that address, then delete the account the same way the in-app button does, within 30 days. The same address handles requests to delete only part of your data (for example, your demographics or your messages) without closing the account.

Requesting a copy of your data

In the app: Profile → Legal → Download my data.
